Chemical Exposure Monitoring

Chemical Exposure monitoring is an assessment of chemicals hazardous to health which the employers shall ensure that the exposure of employees are monitored in accordance to OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH (USE AND STANDARDS OF EXPOSURE OF CHEMICALS HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH) REGULATIONS 2000 with an approved method of monitoring and analysis. 

Such chemical exposure monitoring shall be conducted by a hygiene technician who recognized by DOSH Malaysia. If an employee is exposed or likely to be exposed to chemicals hazardous to health listed in Schedule II, the monitoring of exposure of employees determined in subregulation (1) shall be repeated at intervals of not more than six months.

The purpose of chemical exposure monitoring:

  • To analyses the concentration of pollutant on the factory area.
  • To identify exceeding the permitted exposure level
  • To ensure the exposure of employees to chemicals hazardous to health
    complying to the OSHA standard as stimulated in the CSDS of the chemical used
